Song of the Month: “Praise You”

by Lois Flowers

Song of the month header 1

Some months I’m so sure about the song I’m going to share with you. Other months I waffle back and forth until something suddenly crystallizes in my head and then I know—this is the one.

The latter happened this time.

It’s December, but this isn’t a Christmas song. It’s not one that everyone around here loves, but I do. I’m somewhat lacking in rhythm, but this tune absolutely makes me dance around the kitchen island when I’m making supper.

With a build up like that, you can hardly wait to hear it, right? So here you go: Big Daddy Weave’s “Praise You.”

The words of this song, coupled with an image of you dancing around your kitchen, makes me think of King David when the Ark of the Covenant was returned. David danced himself silly! Rock on, sister friend, and praise God!

Suzy, I’m getting a kick out of your comment, although I’m pretty sure my dancing doesn’t come close to anything David did! We are working on some notes to you, by the way … you blessed us so much with your recent thoughtfulness! 🙂

An awesome song, Lois. Thank you. What grace it takes to praise Him even in the midst of pain and the valley of shadows! This sounds like a good song to pull someone out of the downheartedness. It can be hard to, but I am trying to praise Him through every circumstance. 🙂 Blessings and hugs to you!

I’m right there with you, Trudy. It’s hard not to smile to this song, even through tears. I love how it doesn’t ignore the struggles, but focuses on the One who is constant in the midst of them. Have a wonderful week!
