Song of the Month: “Your Mercy”

I’m a bit late with the Song of the Month for October.

Honestly, I’ve been wrestling with whether I should even be doing this anymore. Sure, I love music, and these songs I share with you every four weeks or so are ones that resonate deeply with me.

But I’ve been trying to simplify a few areas of my life, and as silly as it might sound, this little blog feature is one that keeps lingering on the chopping block.

Then at church on Sunday, we sang a Vertical Church Band tune called “Your Mercy”—a song I loved from the first moment I heard it.

Tuesday morning, I woke up with the lyrics pulsing through my mind. Later, after doing some writing about how God used a long-ago decision that was primarily rooted in fear to direct me toward His path for my life, it hit me.

While worry and fear did hinder me in some crucial ways back then, they do not deserve credit for the choices I made.

It was God’s mercy all along.

I needed this song to remind me of that. Maybe you do too.

Hi, Lois! I vote KEEP the Song of the Month. In fact, maybe you could create a YouTube channel to go with your blog and then make a SOTM playlist. I know I would enjoy listening to that and it would be very uplifting. I’m sure someone at your house could set that up for you! 🙂

That’s a great idea, Lydia. I never thought of doing that–thanks for suggesting it! And yes, I’m sure someone here could assist with a project like this. 🙂
